![]() ![]() If you are in the south you might want to visit the campus of St. I also loved the path among long, lush green grass swaying in the wind. ![]() We didn’t find any piglets there but instead- a great tranquillity and a lovely, little beach. One of them is a small Hog Island located in of the numerous bays in the south. If you want to escape from the crowds, there are plenty of peaceful places on Granada where you can go. It’s over 2 km long so you can relax there with great views over the turquoise water and hilly coastline as well as take a walk to Quarantine Point. George’s there is Grand Anse Beach considered one of the most beautiful in the world. It’s kind of an old school museum which is not everyone’s thing but if you want to learn about the history, environment and other curiosities about Grenada, this place should be definitely on your list. I also liked and can recommend Grenada National Museum. Speaking of which, our favourite one was House of Chocolate which is a café and museum in one! We tried one of the best ice- cream ever there and learnt a lot about the chocolate history and production. Although it’s a small town you’ll find surprisingly many art galleries there, often combined with cafeterias. If you’re seeking for a cultural experience, St. We especially enjoyed the town’s panorama seen from Fort George which we were passing by each time when coming back from the bus station. It’s pretty neat, colourful, chilled and picturesque. Although flat, it’s quite tiring because of the very muddy path.Īmong all Caribbean towns we visited that year, we liked St. ![]() Leave that one for the end, after Mt Qua Qua hike. But what we liked about it was the vegetation- so dense that stepping out of trail was quite impossible. It’s too far from the water so you won’t get any spectacular views. We took another trail afterwards that leads around Grand Etang lake. And the vegetation there! So lush green as if someone edited it in Photoshop. We first climbed Mount Qua Qua (what a lovely name!) from where you can admire beautiful views over extensive rainforest, Grand Etang crater lake as well as both Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. In Grand Etang National Park we had one of the best hikes in our entire Caribbean trip or even in life. It’s not far and the way leading there is pleasant (including some torrent crossing). When at Concord, you can (or: should) visit Au Coin waterfalls too which is very much worth it. Ah! And here we picked dasheen leaves for the first time which turned out to be our best culinary discovery on the Caribbean. First we stumbled upon a citrus tree (something between an orange an a grapefruit), further we found cocoa fruits (in different colours) and, of course, nutmegs- a symbol and pride of Grenada (it’s even included in the national flag). We were also very successful that day with picking wild fruits. Also the way to the Waterfall itself is a nice experience- the road leads through the thick forest with some small, colourful houses here and there. It was the first time we went hiking and well, what a great introduction into Grenada’s nature! Concord fall is a lovely place to relax in the middle of the forest with soothing sounds of water or have a (very refreshing!) swim. So all these mountains, lakes, rivers, waterfalls, rainforest and looong beaches made us absolutely captivated by Grenada. But because they are so small (like, very small- Mayreau is 2 km long and Tobaco Cays even smaller), nature can’t really do a lot there. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely loved Grenadines, we even revisited them on the way to Martinique. We reached Grenada after a month sailing through the small islands of Grenadines so what delighted us the most was the nature’s abundance.
